Hi all,

Based on my installation notes, I wrote a tutorial detailing the configuration of an Linux UrT server with BigBrotherBot (B3) and various plugins including XLRStats. I also provide various script (startup script, randomization of the mapcycle etc.) and some hints for the client configuration (q3config.cfg) and the game play.
I hope it may be of interest for other users so I wanted to share the info here. Your comments are very welcome to improve the document.

This is excellent! I know we hugely benefit from ppl writing proper documentation.

I just want to add a few notes.

1.) Advised additions to the UrT server config are three:
Code:
//*** B3 Specific settings ***
set g_logSync "3" // XLR: Unbuffered/direct logging for B3
set sv_zombietime "6" // XLR: Larger zombietime to reduce slot/client mixups for B3
set g_loghits "1" // XLR: headshotcounter and XLRstats bodypart information for B3

2.) The location of the complete XLRstats package (soon it will be including latest plugin and sql) will be here on github:
http://github.com/xlr8or/xlrstats-web-v2/tree

A deeplink to the directory with the sql is in: xlrstats-web-v2 / xlrstats / sql.
The mentioned directory will be obsolete soon.

Hi there, thanks for the nice Tutorial!

There are multiple example configurations for UrT-Server on the net, but what I don't understand completely, yet, ist the difference between the values for g_logsync.

Ok, 0=off, that's easy, but some use »1«, some use »2« and in your tutorial now the value is even »3« which I never saw before in any config.
Since I'm trying to fight some serious lagging on my root server right now, I'm wondering what the difference between these values and the performance of B3 (and maybe the server) is.

Also I'd like to know, if B3 would work properly without setting g_loghits to 1.
Would everything exept the headshot-counter and target zones be counted correctly?

from my server config file, I have
Code:
set g_logsync "2" //0=no log, 1=buffered, 2=continuous, 3=append

from Urban Terror Manual :
Quote
# set g_logsync "1": Enables/disables direct writing to the log file instead of buffered. (Default 1)
I have set "2" on my servers and it works fine.

Also I'd like to know, if B3 would work properly without setting g_loghits to 1.
B3 will work
some b3 plugins will not work (or will send a rcon command to your server to force g_loghits to 1)
